FANCY WOOTTON
Artisan Blues emerged in 2019 and here`s some history on the motivator. Fancy started gigging in 1969 and has performed solo or as a band member on: Harp, slide or fun lovin` rhythm. Either in the UK, mainland Europe or the USA. He has opened for, guested with or toured with: Jesse Guitar Taylor, Butch Hancock and The Sunspots, John Campbell, Freddie King, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, Cousin Joe Pleasant, Fabulous Thunderbirds, U P Wilson, David Evans, Sleep LaBeef, Omar Dykes, Robert Cray and Bonnie Raitt. Plus there`s an album he started back in the 90s lying around somewhere in a studio in Austin or California. He stopped playing full time in 2000 only to emerge again in early 2016 and said "I`m having a fine time. Love playing in Oxfordshire, Yorkshire and Haarlem NL, always on the lookout for new areas."
U.P. Wilson said "I try to lose him, but his rhythm is still there!".
Nick Lowe said "Usually you only hear a Rhythm player like him in Texas".
Jesse "Guitar" Taylor said "sometimes when he`s playing harp, I think there`s a brass section behind me"
Lightnin` Willie Hermes said "Fancy is someone you must go and see if he`s in your area. He is a great singer, harp player and guitarist".
May 2022 Audience member at the recent Robert Cray, New Theatre, Oxford, UK gig: "I love your slide playing, it`s like a a mix of Ry Cooder, Lowell George with originality added."
April 28th 2023 Private Party. Question/comment from an attendee: "With your harp style and sound, maybe you should change your name from Fancy to "Mr Sweet Tone".
June 2023 Comment from The New Theatre Management after the Bonnie Raitt show: "you prove popular every time, we would love to have you back"
